I first discovered my passion for massage therapy while traveling in Costa Rica. Instead of gardening as the work exchange for room and board where I was staying, I was unexpectedly asked to give massages. I had no formal massage training at the time, but I had always been fascinated by the body and drawn to massage, so I agreed. The massage table was set up on an open-air deck surrounded by jungle, the smell of ylang ylang and the sound of the ocean. The massage oil was coconut oil harvested from the coconuts of nearby trees. It was truly a dream setting.
After giving just two massages and feeling as though I’d practiced the art for years, it was very clear that I needed to pursue a path in massage. I cut my travel plans short and immediately enrolled in a holistic training program at the Ashland Institute of Massage in 2008. I graduated with an emphasis on deep tissue massage, Myofascial Release, and Neuromuscular Therapy. Shortly after, I trained in Ashiatsu Oriental Bar and Ashi Thai, Pregnancy Massage and Structural Integration principles. In May, 2015, I began studying CranioSacral Therapy. I have completed Carol Gray’s training in CranioSacral Therapy for Infants and Craniosacral Therapy for Pregnancy, Birth and Post-Partum. Certifications in progress: Upledger CST, Barral Intistute Visceral Manipulation.
I have practiced massage in Portland, Bend and now I am pleased to be back in Ashland, my hometown, to offer my work to Southern Oregon.
